Half the way between the coast of Monte Conero and Saint Mount Close. and just a few
kilometres from such cities of art and culture as Ancona, Loreto, Osimo, Recanati,
Fabriano and Jesi, resides the village of Saint Vittore with its historical Benedictine Abbey surrounded by hills in a valley forgotten by time.
Here it is possible to enjoy a relaxing stay in wonderful suites all with double bedroom, living room with sofa bed, bathroom and kitchen. All are set amidst an immense garden dominated by secular trees.
Upon request it is possible to reserve the property for weddings, incentive training, ceremonies, and conventions. Sporting opportunities in the zone include trekking, mountain bike, horse riding and water sports on the lakes.
The Abbey of Saint Vittore is located half the way between the old town of Cingoli and the medieval walls of Jesi. You can drive quickly to the Park of the Conero, the historical cities of Osimo and Castelfidardo, the magnificent and uncontaminated beaches of Sirolo,
Numana and Portonovo. Within a twenty minute drive you can arrive at the spectacular
Frasassi Grotto, one of the largest in the world.
where you can book a classic tour or be
escorted by guides to zones not normally open to the public. A little further is Ancona, the spectacular Basilica of Loreto, a popular pilgrim destination and the old university town of Macerata which hosts an annual opera season. Not forgetting Recanati, home town of Giacomo Leopardi and Cingoli known as the balcony of the Marche (do not miss a visit to the archaeological museum and the pinacoteca).
For nature lovers we suggest the nearby lake of Castriccioni, a true paradise for fishermen, bird watching enthusiasts and canoeists. If you are looking for additional sport activities you can choose from trekking, horse riding and mountain biking. A well equipped 5-a-side football field may be booked in the evenings (just walking distance from the Abbey). For those with a huge appetite it is possible to discover a great variety of local cheeses, from every type of pecorino to the warm, just made, buffalo mozzarella. Very popular are the fresh pasta ‘laboratori’. Depending on the season, you may taste their pasta with porcini and wild forest mushroom sauce or delicious local truffles. A wide choice also of local salami and ‘prosciutto’ is on offer including exceptional fresh wild boar bresaola. At the right time of the year there is also the possibility of tasting the rare river shrimps and crabs. Last, but not least, don’t miss out on the possibility of stocking up on olive oil and wine (especially Verdicchio which is of unbeatable quality. A range of 12 quality DOC wines should be accompanied with our suggestions: stoccafisso anconitana, vincisgrassi, the olives of
Ascoli, brodetto, maccheroncini of Campofilone, ciauscolo, Formaggio di fossa cheese of Talamello, truffles from Acqualagna, Sant’Angelo inVado and San Feltria Agate, caciotta of Urbino, prosciutto of Carpegna and salame of Fabriano.
All year round there are popular medieval fairs in the nearby towns each dedicated to local wines and food. You will be encouraged to taste the most delicious local products. The Abbey owners will be happy to advise.
The suites are composed of two rooms (to sleep 2 + 2 with bath, living room and own kitchen for a total 50 mq space) all in an atmosphere of great comfort and elegance.
